Personal Bio

Sanford has worked with New York Life for over 34 years helping individuals, families and businesses alike in creating programs and strategies to best plan for current and future needs.  He has weathered a plethora of economic climates over the years, assisting his diverse clientele with Asset Allocation, Portfolio Design and Pension Planning, as well as Estate and Business Succession Planning.  He considers himself privileged to call many of his clients friends, and has always provided a level of customer service second to none.

Sanford has a true passion for supporting his local community through extensive fundraising and outreach events.  He is dedicated to promoting the vision of charities that he supports.  One particular organization has captured his interest and heart:  Social Advocates for Youth (SAY).  Believing wholeheartedly in SAY’s mission to “create and support a caring community where all children, youth and families grow, thrive and succeed”, Sanford works tirelessly to spread the word about the invaluable work the folks at SAY are doing in Sonoma County.

Sanford also teaches an upper level Sales & Marketing course at Sonoma State University, his alma mater.   The positive feedback from students who have taken his course exemplifies both Sanford’s commitment to mentoring the next generation of business entrepreneurs, as well as his gift to connect with people of all ages.

In addition, he has been a strong supporter of The Green Music Center at Sonoma State University, Congregation Beth Ami, and the UC Davis Mind Institute.  He is on the Sonoma State Foundation Board, and served as President of the Sonoma State University Alumni Board from 2000-2001.  His professional affiliations include the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, the Sonoma County Alliance, the National Association of Life Underwriters, The Million Dollar Round Table* and New York Life’s Chairman’s Council**.

A self professed “foodie”, Sanford enjoys cooking, wine tasting and spending quality time with family and friends.  He and his wife JoAnne have two sons, Jeremy and Zachary.

* The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, is recognized globally as the standard of excellence for life insurance sales performance in the insurance and financial services industry.
